Textiles Testing Lab
Before a fashion designer can create a garment, the fabrics used to create their masterpiece have undergone extensive research by textile professionals. Firefighter uniforms must be tested for fire resistance, a police officer’s Kevlar vest must be able to stop a bullet, and a college student’s trendy cotton dress must be able to withstand washing.
Students in ADM 201 - Introduction to Textiles are introduced to fibers, yarns, fabrics, colorations, and finishes with our textiles testing lab. In the lab, instructors guide students through the process of examining and understanding the complex world of textiles. Specific tests you will perform in the lab include textile breaking, tearing strength, abrasion, pilling, wrinkle resistance, flammability, and color fastness.
